First iMovie projects

Just did my first iMovie projects. It seems easy enough to do some simple things. There are some really awesome project themes, but I don’t have enough clips to make something decent as of now. Anyway, it should be enough for me, without diving into Final Cut Pro.

KDE4 Vs. Windows 7

So.. I just saw the interview with Linus Torvalds  where he states he has ditched KDE in favour of Gnome, so I thought I’d give it a whirl.

Blog changes

Hi gang,

I have just added a link to the top of the page (where am I), which should show up my location (or at least, where my Blackberry thinks I am). I am still figuring out the frequency I will use to update those values, because that means the mobile phone turning up the GPS, and sending the values through zeh Interwebs, which, of course, costs battery.

Also, I would like your help in deciding which gallery system I should keep. The new one, actually fetches the photos from flickr, so it’s more practical for me, as I don’t have to update both the galleries (the andrelemos.com and flickr.com one).

Ps.: try not to judge the galleries based on their contents, but rather on the layout/functionality!

Google Chrome – Google's new browser

Download it NOW! It’s freakin awsome!

It’s only available for Windows for now, but they are working on a Linux and Mac OS/X version.

You can read a webcomic about it, or see its features.

It’s very, VERY fast, light and very very simple.

And now, of course, some screenshots:

one thing that I found very cool, and that it should be pretty obvious, is how they sandbox each tab so that a single webpage does not bring the whole browser down. There’s even a task manager for you to monitor WTH is happening 🙂

and of course, lots of other stuff, and some cute, non intrusive animations.

give it a go. really. I am sold.

Call of Duty 4

Just finished Call of Duty 4! I don’t remember the last time I have ever finished a game (oh wait. I just remembered I’ve also finished Need for Speed Underground 2).

I also have installed GTA San Andreas, Need for Speed Carbon and SiN Episodes – Emergence.

Call of Duty 4 is a really cool game, that although it seemed a bit short (or I played too much, and so it ended quickly), it was really fun to play, and the ending is really cool (movie like).

Here are some screenshots I took while playing:

New coat

Hi gang,

Some news on the photographic camp material:

  • got a huey pro to calibrate my monitors. Works in Windows, Mac, Linux, so it’s a perfect fit. And it also does ambient readings during a certain interval, which is very cool.
  • wanted to plug my CRT to a second graphics card, so I could see my images on both the TFT and the CRT at the same time. To my surprise, I found out my graphics card already had 2 DVI links. cool.
  • got a half case for my Zeiss Ikon ZM hand made in Italy, with the best Italian leather.

So now I have 2 monitors (one TFT and one CRT), both constantly monitored by the huey pro colour calibration device.

Some crappy photos of my ZM’s outfit (shot them at 23:00 with my mom’s point and shoot, so… yeah..):

I am taking my time to rescan some negatives (cause now I have the monitors calibrated et al), it’s great therapy!

Service Down

In about 30 minutes or so, the blog will be down, as I will be changing some hardware components on the server.

Have fun 🙂

I love technology

I am currently typing this while on an Alfa Pendular, going from Coimbra to Lisbon, where I am going to meet with Marisa in about 30 minutes, and after that, I’m going to have a work meeting.

Even the bandwidth isn’t too bad!

I just tested it, and I am doing 691.36 kbps down and 268.64 kbps up! These are really good results! Better than some cable connections (this is a 3G connection).

I wish my office was here all the time. We get TV, nice comfy chairs, really great landscape, air conditioning, etc… The only bad part is that I have to hear this guy chatting all the time on the phone, but that’s why headphones were invented.

I am happy geek right now 🙂
