Film still kicking

Still some frames missing from the full roll, but it does look nice. Exposure is for the selected photo, that’s why others may look dark, or too bright.

Film is Ilford FP4 Plus 125, developed with X-Tol stock for 8 minutes + 5 minutes Ilford fixing.

Life sucks

and then you… well… nothing. really.

Nothing is ever what you expect. Plans get flushed. Hobbies are rendered grey. People change. YOU change. sacrifices are made. you laugh. you cry.

Idle hands are the devil’s playthings. really. do not cling to your mobile phone.

in an age of a very small global village, the butterfly effect is massive. a word, a status changes lives. your life. my life. choices are easier to make.

in the end, what have you accomplished? really? How will it all end? You’ll only have two possible outcomes. Alone, or meaningful to someone.

you root for your team. you watch girls in their bikini while on the beach, even though they’ll never mean anything to you. you live.

what is life really, but a sum of decisions, with a perspective of a piss poor outcome?

choices make up for your journey, and lead you to different outcomes. I have made my share of decisions based on what I expected from life.

do I regret any? hell no! do I regret some of their outcomes? yes. why? well… quite frankly, just like we are the sum of our experiences, decisions are the sum of these experiences. these experiences let us look into the future and foresee what our life would be.

so yes. life sucks. just be sure to make the correct decisions so you can live by.

All the content in this post took place on the 11th of the current month 🙂

I woke up in Lisbon on that day, on Marisa’s house. We woke up pretty soon, so that we could still go to my house in Coimbra, so I could dress up, and then we would head to the marriage location.

The following video was shot in my bedroom.

Yes, it has a very crappy quality, but that “video camera” was an offer (e.g. free), so… We can’t really expect much. That’s my mom and Marisa on the video, btw 😀

Now, I am going to post 31 photos from the marriage, the film used was:

  • Ilford FP4 Plus 120
  • Ilford Delta 400

both shot with a Zeiss Ikon ZM, with a 35mm f1.4 SC Nokton, developed with Xtol Stock, and scanned with an epson v700.

I must warn you, that it was my first venue with the lens/camera combo, so everything might not be perfect.

Oh, and another heads up. If you like some of the photos, let me know, so I can send you the 16 bits TIF gray versions of them. The quality is so much better, it’s haunting! In the mean time, I’ll try a better way to get them from tifs to jpegs.

I also need to calibrate my monitor. TFTs suck, and photos might be too dark.

The photos are posted after the following jump, so that the blogs’ main page does not get too crowded.

I am ready!

Now I can say I am ready for Nuno‘s and littleNes‘ wedding on Sunday!

Hot date: CHECK! My Marisa Duque!

Cameras: CHECK!

  • Zeiss Ikon ZM with a Nokton 35 f1.4
  • Yashica GTN with a Yashinon 40 f1.7

Film: CHECK!

  • Ilford Delta 400
  • Ilford FP4 Plus 125
  • Fujicolor 100 (to waste before the wedding to make sure everything is working properly)

Don’t know if I will load each camera with it’s own film, or use only the Zeiss, and load Yashica with something else, and perhaps convince Marisa to take some shots 🙂

And now for the pics for the GAS attack MUAHAHAH

ImageShack ImageShack

Oh, btw, the lens on the Zeiss is the nokton 35mm f1.4. You know why rangefinder rocks? It weights 200 grams, and has a length of 28,5mm.

A canon ef 35mm f1.4 weights 580 grams has a length of 86mm.

How much more stealth can you be? 😉

Hey there!

This weekend was great! I went to Marisa’s farm house near Ferreira do Zêzere, and I have spent a really great time while there! It’s a really peaceful place, with great landscapes.

I think the highlights were obviously, the time we’ve spent together, either when cuddling, sweeping the patio, catching oranges or running on the river shore (I obviously outran her :-P, and don’t you dare denying this!).

Her family was really nice to me, and are great folks all around. The weather was a bit chilly, but other than that, all was perfect 🙂

I suppose the highlight of the highlights was when visiting Dornes’ [1][2][photo] church, that is situated in a peninsula, the friendly church keeper promised us that when we’d get married, she’d fill Dornes’ church with flowers, and any time we’d go back, we could sleep over at her place. I think she really liked us, and thought we were married from the get go, because filling a church with flowers isn’t an easy, nor cheap task.

Built to be Strong

The base structure of the camera is a one-piece aluminum die cast part. The focal plane shutter and lens bayonet are both attached to the stable structure as well as the solid die cast camera front plate.

So yes… I have bought a Zeiss Ikon ZM rangefinder, that should be arriving tomorrow or so. You can read the sentences I have been publishing on a Zeiss brochure.

All of these phrases have had a hidden meaning to them, I doubt any of you caught it. Anyways, the idea was to keep this a mystery till I actually got the camera, and then shoot me and the camera on a pose similar to Mr. José Cid. Something along these lines:

All these dirty words

They make us look so dumb
Been drinking far too much
And neither of us mean what we say
Well you and I
Collapsed in love
And it looks like we might have made it, yes it looks like we’ve made it to the end
What happened to us
Soon it will be gone forever
Infatuated only with ourselves
And neither of us can think straight anymore
(chorus x 2)

BlurTo the End

As promised on the previous post, here’s a large post for your own indulgence.
