Vacations pleaseeee

No Gravatar

I sooooooooo seriously need some vacations. I don’t usually ask for them, but I am really worn off. Well… Perhaps I’m just saying this because today is a Monday, and I am feeling kind of useless at work, ’cause I am stuck, and can’t get pass this stupid problem. *shrug*

So… Still about 18 days till I get 2 weeks vacation.

Feeling kind of lonely right now, so that doesn’t help as well. meh…

Tomorrow will be a better day. I’m sure of it.

No way Jose!

Self-considered pundit Jose Saramago now proclaims that Portugal should become another province of Spain.

No doubt Spain has tapas and chicas – up to you to decide about the order -, an economy growing much faster than the portuguese one, a general optimistic and more proactive attitude about future, wiser politicians (being this possible…), you name it.

But although scum, we invented the “pastel de nata”. Besides, Afonso Henriques didn’t treat 900 years ago his mother like a dog in vain, did he?!

And even if a modern “Padeira de Aljubarrota” would wear Zara, nevertheless she would keep hating and beating those Spaniard bastards. It’s in our blood, we can do nothing against genetics.

Now seriously: I’m not joking. Portugal forever!

Photo Contest

No Gravatar

The company where I work, has put together an on-line gallery so that the employees could upload their photos.

After some time, they announced a contest where the 20 best photos would be printed on a very large scale (1.3×1.0 meters) with proper frames, information about the author, etc, and would be exhibited on the 3 Portuguese Critical offices (Lisbon, Coimbra and Porto).

Well…. 299 photos were submitted, and 3 of mine are among the best 20, and one of those got the first place. yay :-)

I’ll post some photos when they get printed.

Before Sunset

Though I haven’t seen the movie from the beginning (I think I only saw half of it), I really enjoyed it, and I recommend everyone to see it. :-)

I specially enjoyed the long stroll Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy took around Paris. I also liked a lot when she sang a little waltz, as she puts it.

<update>

I’ve just realized that there’s much more to this movie then I previously thought. Apparently this is a sequel for Before Sunrise, a film shot 9 years before this one.

I don’t want to spoil you the movie, so I’ll just put a quote from the Before Sunset movie plot:

Jesse, a writer from the US, and Celine, a Frenchwoman working for an environment protection organization, acquainted nine years ago on the train from Budapest to Vienna, meet again when Jesse arrives in Paris for a reading of his new book.

Got the hint?

Leica

Almost bought a Leica M6, and almost bought a Leica M7, but was able to restrain myself ;-)

I guess I’ll just stick with my Yashica and buy a strap for it. Perhaps a Voigtländer Bessa in the future (an R2A for instance).

Got developed some medium format slides from my Mamiya, and boy do they look pretty:

The Love Boat – PART II

No Gravatar

So….After hearing my cabin mates get out of bed and leave the room, I’ve decided to do the same, as we should prolly be arriving to Stockholm, and right I was. There was already lots of fuss on the upper decks, as people were having breakfast and getting ready to get out of the boat. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t very nice, but the landscape was well worth the slight drizzle.

Apparently we were following this other boat (you can see it on one of the movies on the previous post), though at some point the other point went to another harbor, while we proceeded to ours.

First video from Stockholm:
